Fall of the Warlock Kings
One of the most powerful races of Afyon, long dominant in the central Plains of Chan. The hobgoblins are a proud race, though they have a shame which can never be set aside: they do not breed true. Of every ten children, one will be born a bugbear, and three will be goblins, so that barely more than half of hobgoblin births are of their actual kind. These other children are raised as servants, slaves and guards, and their inferior status is ingrained in them from birth. Few individuals of either of the subraces are able to put aside their years of oppression and think of themselves as the equals of their founding race, though they have few difficulties concerning other races. The tieflings are also a varient of the hobgoblins, coming from the time when, in ancient ages, some hobgoblins meddled with dark powers. They can no longer breed with one another. Hobgoblins view all inter-species breeding as suspect, and look down on half elves and half orcs almost as much as goblins and bugbears.
