Fall of the Warlock Kings
Located at the southern edge of the Plains of Chan where the Cobalt River empties into the Sea of Stars, Hodon has long been a major port city. It was established long ago by the rulers of the Chan Empire to explore and trade with the primitive cultures around the sea, and was part of the Empire for many decades until the collapse of the Chan under the assault of the Orcish Horde. The city was independent for a short time until its conquest by Susteen, which retained control of Hodon until both fell to the Great Kingdom. Refugees fleeing from the Horde, and from the forces of Susteen, settled on the previously lightly occupied island of Viir, greatly strengthening the settlement there and in effect founding the naval power that would supplant Hodon as the greatest maritime power of the Sea of Stars. Hodon spreads on both sides of the Cobalt River, though the greater portion lies on the north bank. This larger portion is walled, while the southern section is not. The city is focused on the river and the sea, with docks thrust out into the water, though there are few ships there, as the fleet was seized or sunk by the Viiri when the Great King took the city, and attempts to rebuild it have been met with further destruction from the island city. Currently under blockade, Hodon is gradually shrinking as people drift away from a city which now seems to have no real purpose.
