Fall of the Warlock Kings
The Second Children of the Dragon, according to their own legends. The kobold race came to Afyon across the Sunset Ocean in a time before even Chan has been established, to set up a kingdom in honor of the Dragon Gods, Tiam and Ruzzor. There were dragons with them, so they claim, but these died in the new environment, and the kobolds were left to fend for themselves. Whether these kobolds came from the ancient Dragon Realm of Rhu’alan in uncertain; the dragonborn, who certainly came from there, had not seen kobolds, though they had stories of smaller beings like kobolds from their ancient past. A kinship between the two is definitely recognized, and both honor Tiam, though Ruzzor was not known to the dragonborn. The kobolds founded the city of Ek Acail, and a great kingdom, so they say, spread to all the lands west of the White Mountains. Infighting, and the eruption of volcanoes now gone quiet, destroyed much of this great civilization, which was further shattered by the appearance of the alfar in the First Veiling. Only remnants of this legendary realm can be found, and many doubt that any such kingdom ever existed. The city of Ek Acail is certainly ancient, but Boran is much more recent, and Zaros was founded within written history. What other cities they may have had have been lost in the Fae-born forests of the extreme west. The kobolds hate the alfar, and have warred against them for ages. They speak a thickly accented varient of so-called pure (that is, dragonborn) draconic.
