Fall of the Warlock Kings
First city of the Starbreed, and long an opponent of tyranny of any sort. Currently opposed strongly to all the Vicars, but mostly to the Great King. The city of Oriel is small and walled with tall flat-roofed buildings. At night the people of the city take to the roofs, especially in summer when the heat can be intense, and watch the stars while drinking wine and chatting. Ballgames are played across the streets and rooftops, and in the center of the city the great Dome of Heaven lies open to the sky, and is filled with music and conversation whenever the weather permits. The people of Oriel are held to be the most civilized in the world, but also, some say, the most uselessly so. Their learning is not practical, and their opposition to tyranny, while generally well looked upon, is often not active. The city is a gerontocracy, with the oldest fifty Starbreed who wish to duty acting as a council of leadership. This, somewhat naturally, promotes caution and a respect for learning and custom.
