Fall of the Warlock Kings
Once an island city on the eastern shore of the Sea of Stars, but conquered long ago by a dragonborn general who built a causeway to the city, Thuven was once a great power but has been taken time and again by others, most recently a century or more ago by Viir. Now it is in decline, its great walls holding only a portion of the city that once was. Near the docks, the Viiri Quarter is still busy and prosperous, but the farther one goes from the money and power of the lords, the worse things get. Ruined buildings are common, especially on the south side of the city, where it is said that fights to the death are waged for the pleasure of crime lords, and where monsters boldly live among men, unchallenged by any just authority. The Viiri maintain a garrison on the causeway itself, and here, as well, there is some vestige of civilization, but beyond is a no man’s land between the Viiri walls and the lands of the Great King. Thuven looks out to the sea for salvation, but is instead neglected by Viir, and wastes away in foulness.
