Fall of the Warlock Kings
Dragonborn ruler of the Dragon Empire of Kydon Kail, for many years in fact but most recently in name only. The line of Dragon Emperors streches back 1400 years to the founding of the Empire, though the connections between some of the Emperors has been tenuous at best, and many were adopted, in some cases retroactively after a successful rebellion. Still, every one of the rulers has claimed to be in the same line of succession, and most have been members of the ruling Dakaro family, or have quickly married into it and taken the name. The current ruler is a youngish dragonborn, bearing the characteristic blue-purple color of the Dakaros though his grandfather was a barely-noble northern general who married the then-current Empress after supressing a rebellion and then, after she had birthed an heir, had her exiled to the Furthest Shore. Kathurol Dakaro dreams of taking back his throne in reality, of leading the still-numerous if poorly trained and idle forces of Kydon Kail in reclaiming his lost provinces, or at least of throwing off the yoke of the Great King, but he lacks the funds and the support to do so. His power is only a dream, though he is beloved by his people, and viewed as next to godlike by dragonborn both inside and outside the Empire. He is technically high priest of Tiam, though he is not a cleric. The life of the Dragon Emperor is ringed about in ceremonial; he is attended at almost all times by his Eunuch Guard, dragonborn whose shells before birth are treated with a substance that makes them infertile and of indeterminite gender; and he is seldom allowed out of the palace compound, and almost never out of Kydon Kail itself.
